I have an assignment requiring primary source documents. What types of primary source documents are available in the Archives?

Answer

There is a huge variety of primary source materials located in our Archives. Some examples include:

  • College publications, including the student newspaper, back to 1853
  • Official records – Trustees, Presidential, college documents, alumni and faculty files
  • Student organizations and memorabilia
  • Personal papers – diaries, correspondence, scrapbooks
  • Audio/Video materials – including oral histories
  • Thousands of photographs

We also have primary source books as part of our Special Collections.
