How do I find an article's DOI?

Answer

A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is a unique, permanent identifier that will take you directly to an article. The DOI can typically be found on the first page of a journal article near the copyright notice or in the article’s database record. You can also search CrossRef, the official DOI Registration Agency of the International DOI Foundation, to find an article’s DOI.

Please note, not all articles have a DOI. The DOI was established in 1998. Therefore, articles published prior to 2000 are less likely to have an assigned DOI. Also, if the publisher does not meet the obligations of the DOI system or does not pay to become a system member, they cannot assign DOIs to their articles.
